A new special edition Mini Cooper will be released in March. The Mini 1965 Victory Edition pays homage to the Monte Carlo Rally-winning Mini Cooper S driven by Timo Mäkinen and co-driver Paul Easter.
At the time, the car was praised for its innovative technology, impressive performance, and agility in extreme weather. The new Mini Victory Edition modernizes these storied attributes. In the U.S. market, this special edition Mini will be exclusive to the Mini John Cooper Works 2-door model. It makes 228 horsepower and a maximum torque of 280 lb-ft.
A Vintage Meets Modern Exterior
The exterior of this Mini makes a serious statement. The Chili Red color and white trim call back to motorsport colors of the 1960s. A white “52” graphic adorns both sides of the vehicle in reference to the original rally car’s number in 1965. A panoramic roof in Glazed White, a “1965” sticker on the C-pillar, and floating wheel center caps round out the rally theme.
An Interior That Combines Sportiness and Comfort
White 1965 lettering graces the door sills against a red-and-black background. A placard commemorating the rally can also be found on the inside edge of the door. The interior is based on the traditional JCW color palette, finished in a racy red and anthracite. Other fun interior details include the Mini S racing number on the key cap, 1965 on the steering wheel, and the storage box in the center console.
The Mini 1965 Victory Edition will be available in limited numbers. The MSRP is $47,395, including destination fee.
