Mercedes Recalls EVs, S-Class Over Backup Sound

Mercedes has recalled 94 electric vehicles (EVs) and a plug-in hybrid version of its flagship sedan because they may not sound a required beep when reversing.

Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:

All of the cars make some sound as they reverse, Mercedes says, but the sound “might not be consistent within a model year.” Some reverse beeps might not meet federal safety standards.

Mercedes can fix the issue with a software update. Software updates are typically quick service appointments.
