Mazda Recalls CX-70, CX-90 Over Electronic Issues

2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV

Mazda has recalled 80,915 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs because of a series of electronic problems including false dashboard warnings.

Recalled models include the:

Mazda tells federal safety officials that, due to a software problem, multiple warning lights may display on startup when they’re not needed. Functions like the defroster and 360-degree view monitor may not work correctly. “Furthermore, the engine warning light may be illuminated, and the PHEV high-voltage battery cooling system may not function as intended,” the company says.

Mazda knows of no accidents or injuries related to the problem but says it has received at least five field reports in the U.S.

Dealers will reprogram the software that powers the dash display, which should correct the issue. These vehicles cannot receive over-the-air updates, so owners must bring them into the dealership for the patch. Software updates are among the fastest service appointments.

By law, dealers don’t charge for recall repairs.
