  • This is Lexus’ first 3-row all-electric SUV.
  • Range is estimated at up to 300 miles.
  • Sustainable details are included in both the interior and exterior design.
  • Features the latest generation of Lexus Interface and Lexus Safety System+ 4.0.
  • The TZ is available for model year 2027 and is expected to go on sale at the end of 2026.

Lexus has raised the curtains on the TZ, a brand-new 3-row all-electric SUV. The TZ will offer two lithium-ion battery options and up to an estimated 300 miles of range per charge. The introduction follows this year’s debut of Toyota’s first 3-row electric SUV, the 2027 Highlander.

Lounge-like Experience

Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand, says the TZ will have an open cabin design to provide spaciousness and quietness, with the goal to “enrich time spent with loved ones and evoke emotional connection behind the wheel.”

An Opulent Interior

The interior of the TZ is designed with a low-floor, long-wheelbase layout and will feature a slim instrument panel, seats optimized for comfort, captain’s chairs in the second row, and a panoramic roof. Interior surfaces include bamboo from Japan’s Shikoku Island to represent sustainability and craftsmanship.

The cockpit is designed to expand forward visibility with a low instrument panel, polarizing film to reduce glare, and an optimized A-pillar design to improve corner-entry sightlines.

Interior color palettes include a light gray (Birch), medium tone (Acorn), and monochromatic gradation (Black/Dapple Gray) for a clean look with warm texture.

Quiet Luxury

Sound-absorbing materials and vibration frequency offsetting design elements are used to keep the car extra quiet. Aerodynamic mirrors minimize wind noise. Lexus claims this is the quietest cabin among its SUVs.

Room to Relax

The front passenger and second-row seats will offer power ottomans, and the third-row seats offer what Lexus calls “sofa-like cushioning.” A walk-in button on second-row seats allows for smooth entry to the third row. One-touch folding for the second and third rows provides generous cargo space.

New and Improved Multimedia

The TZ promises the latest and greatest in Lexus Interface multimedia. This includes AT&T 5G connectivity, customizable home-screen widgets, an improved voice assistant, full-screen navigation, EV charging management, and a drive recorder that captures external camera footage.

All About Atmosphere

The panoramic roof is bolstered by a power sunshade and a wire-driven system that preserves cabin height, maximizing headroom and giving passengers in the third row ample viewing. Ambient lighting cycles through six Japanese-inspired themes for added illumination.

Also on offer is a Mark Levinson audio system with 21 speakers that Lexus says will deliver “immersive, distortion-free sound.” Even the climate fans are engineered for quietness, and heaters are available on all seats.

Active sound control produces harmonious sounds for acceleration and deceleration to enhance driver awareness without killing the mood.

Sensible Storage

The front center console offers a large storage compartment, and the rear center console has a two-tier tray for storage that’s removable for access between the second and third rows.

Aerodynamic Refinements

Dynamic Rear Steering improves maneuverability at low speeds and stability at high speeds for an ultra-smooth drive. The tires balance low rolling resistance with ride comfort for added quiet. The body of the TZ is designed to be aerodynamic, reduce wind noise, and enhance range and stability.

Taking Charge

Lexus introduces a 2-in-1 charging port that places AC and DC connectors side by side, with a motorized sliding cover, so charging can be done in tight spaces. The U.S. TZ features the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing access to Tesla Supercharger stations.

Advanced battery functions on the TZ include: battery preconditioning, driving preconditioning, departure time preconditioning, optimal charging, and AC external power supply. We are still awaiting details on power output and exact range figures of each trim.

A Sculptural Exterior

Lexus describes the TZ’s look as “conveying strength” through its elongated silhouette. Several of the slopes on the TZ’s body serve an aerodynamic function. The TZ will be available in six exterior colors, including the new Shaded Ivy.

Eco-Conscious Design Details

Plant-derived materials are used in the instrument panels, seat accents, and door shoulders. The TZ also features an adhesive-free seat assembly structure. Aluminum roof rails combine sleek design with recycled materials for a more sustainable style.

Latest Lexus Safety System

The latest Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 comes standard on the TZ. The system now recognizes objects wider and farther than before and the range of functions and sensors has been expanded. Features include full-speed radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, intersection turn assist, and much more.

Trim and pricing details will be available later this year, when the Lexus TZ is expected to go on sale.
