Kia Telluride Recalled Over Seat Belt Issue

2027 Kia Telluride seen from the front.

Kia is recalling 6,264 vehicles because the driver’s side seat belt might fail to extend. The following vehicles are affected:

A filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that some vehicles “may contain an incorrect vehicle sensor that, in certain conditions, causes the emergency locking retractor (ELR) to lock when attempting to extend the webbing.”

If the seat belt restraint locks, the driver may be unable to properly use the seat belt, increasing the risk of injury in a collision.

Kia is not aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to this recall.

Dealers will replace the driver’s seat belt assembly with one that includes the correct sensor. As with all recalls, the repair is free. Owners who have already had their seat belts replaced prior to the recall will be reimbursed per Kia’s general reimbursement plan.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified beginning July 31, 2026.

Automakers do their best to notify vehicle owners affected by a recall, but they may not reach everyone. To find out if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls, check the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
