Gorgeous, Fun and more than Practical Enough
Like so many of the cars Mazda makes, the CX-5 is arguably the most stylish, most fun-to-drive entry in its segment. In addition to sexy new sheetmetal, a redesigned interior and even better driving dynamics, the redesigned 2017 Mazda CX-5 also boasts more practicaly improvements like a quieter cabin and new safety systems. Also for 2017, both the 2.0-liter base engine and manual transmission have been dropped, and a turbodiesel engine is expected to join the lineup later in the model year.
Driving the CX-5
The CX-5 manages a careful balance between sportiness and comfort, as we explain in our 2017 Mazda CX-5 full review: "The Mazda CX-5 has always been among the liveliest and most fun-to-drive SUVs available, and certainly the most in its class." It continues, "Thankfully, the Mazda’s dynamics don’t come at the expense of a harsh ride. Overall quality has been improved, and the suspension better absorbs road imperfections."
