A report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that “Certain instrument cluster units may unnecessarily enter into an overheat protection mode and temporarily go blank while driving due to excessive signal noise from the instrument cluster’s power management circuit.”
This issue may cause the instrument screen to fail to display pertinent driver information, such as the car’s speed, or fail to show the tire pressure monitoring system.
Kia is not aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to this recall.
Kia dealers will remedy this situation by updating the software, which will prevent the unintended activation of the instrument cluster’s overheat protection mode.
This service is free of charge, as recall repairs always are. Kia owners will be reimbursed for repair expenses if they had an issue prior to the recall.
Owners with affected vehicles will be notified by March 26, 2026.
