Although details are still fairly limited, these first official sketches provide a glimpse of what we can expect to see in a new, upscale large sedan from Kia. Developed under the code name "KH," this full-size four-door is set to launch in Korea sometime during the first half of 2012 and subsequently be rolled out to other world markets. The KH will be Kia’s first-ever rear-wheel-drive vehicle and reportedly share basic platform mechanicals with the Hyundai Equus.
Kia says the exterior styling of its new KH reflects a bold, modern interpretation of the automaker’s existing design language. It’s assertive yet elegant front/rear fascia detailing and flowing sheetmetal match contemporary with classic elements in a manner that Kia claims will make the car stand out from the competition. It also confirmed that the KH will match that distinctive visual presence with equally high-profile measures of performance, technology and luxury.
No definitive word yet on when or if this new range-topping Kia will see a U.S. showroom. For the moment all Kia Motors America execs will admit is that it’s currently under consideration.
