Jaguar Land Rover to debut three hot new vehicles

During the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance weekend, Jaguar Land Rover will augment its showcase of the current lineup with three world debuts. Among them are the production version of the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR and the global reveal of the first prototype of what will be six Lightweight E-Type vehicles that were originally slated to be built as part of an 18-car series back in the mid-60’s. Rounding out this power trio will be the initial appearance of a U.S.-spec version of the Jaguar F-Type Project 7.

Special Operations debut

A product of JLR’s new Special Operations group, the Range Rover Sport SVR is an enthusiast-grade take on the Range Rover Sport and packs the same 550-horsepower/5.0-liter V8 used in other Jaguar R-S models. No word on specific arrival timing, but the Sport SVR is due to hit showrooms here sometime early next year, likely as a 2015 model. Fortified with a full chassis upgrade, this rapid Range Rover recently set an unofficial lap record for production SUVs around the famed 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany with an 8-minute 14-second turn.

Heritage front and center

The first project produced by the Jaguar Heritage Team, the new Lightweight E-Type cars is a hand-crafted aluminum-intensive exercise built to the same specs as 12 ultra-rare predecessors that rolled onto the scene a half century ago. Finally, Pebble will host the unveiling of the U.S. version of the F-Type Project 7 model. Pictured here in its original Euro trim, this rakish roadster mixes carbon fiber and aluminum structure while integrating cues from the legendary Jaguar D-Type. Jag Special Operations has yet to confirm how many of the 250 F-Type Project 7 cars that it plans to build will be coming to America. But they, too, should start arriving here early in 2015.
