Hyundai is recalling for 5,360 2026 Ioniq 9 vehicles in the Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Design trims. The second-row power seat assemblies may not respond to contact with an occupant or object. Failure to detect a person could result in an accident or injury. Hyundai is aware of five complaints about this defect and two alleged minor injuries, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Hyundai advises drivers to take precautions when operating the second-row power-folding seats. Mainly, drivers need to make sure there isn’t a child in the seat or seat folding area during operation.
Ioniq 9 owners can bring their vehicle to a Hyundai dealer where technicians will inspect the seat controller software version and update the logic for the rear power seat functions. Over-the-air software updates will also be provided. These remedies are offered at no cost.
