Honda will revamp its SUV lineup this year. The Japanese automaker expects to reveal new or refreshed versions of three of its four crossovers in 2022.
They’ll appear as 2023 models but likely go on sale before the end of 2022.
The first to appear will be a new HR-V. Honda released a pair of sketches to tease the new design. It shows a more rounded nose than any current Honda product, with an aggressively angular rear air dam and pronounced bulges framing the headlights. From the rear, it borrows its taillights from the all-new Civic and features a more dramatically raked liftgate than the current model.
Honda didn’t offer any hints as to what’s under the hood. But a spokesperson did say not to expect a move toward plug-in hybrids. Instead, Honda’s efforts remain focused on going electric, with its upcoming Prologue electric SUV set to usher in a new era of electrification for the brand.
The company also said it will unveil a new compact CR-V and 3-row midsize Pilot by the end of the year. It revamped its Passport 2-row SUV last year.
