The official debut of the 2022 Honda Civic is scheduled for April 28, but Honda has given the world a good look at the 11the generation of its popular compact car, in the form of one photo. It’s a refined, elegant look a bit more upscale than the current model.
The photo shows the range-topping Touring trim. It’s a less complicated shape than the 2021 Civic. A small grille sits above an enlarged air dam and lower bumper. Thin LED headlights complete the tailored look up front. In the back, the roofline has taken on almost fastback proportions.
The shot gives us no insight into the Civic’s cabin, except that we see the top edge of a central touchscreen that seems to be set in landscape orientation. Honda promises “an all-new simple and sporty interior that advances essential Civic values of uncluttered design, simple ergonomics, and exceptional visibility.”
Mechanical details are unknown, except that Honda has ruled out anything other than the Civic’s traditional front-drive layout. We expect to see the sedan version on the 28th, with a hatchback to follow later. Honda will build the sedan version in Ontario, Canada, with hatchback construction set to take place in Indiana.
