Honda Begins Selling Non-Certified Used Cars on its Certified Used Car Website

Manufacturer certified pre-owned car programs help shoppers cut through the clutter of the used car market to find cars in good condition, and offer some of the warranty protection of a new car to those buying used. Honda’s certified pre-owned program is no exception. It accepts only cars 6 years old or newer, with fewer than 80,000 miles on them. They come with a 60-month, 86,000-mile warranty, and roadside assistance.

Except those that don’t.

Honda has become the first automaker to allow dealers to list non-certified used cars on its certified used car website.

Buyers can still easily spot the difference, but models up to 10 years old can be listed alongside those certified by Honda. And while buyers can complete the buying process of a Honda certified car online, the non-certified models will still require the buyer to appear at the dealership.

The move, Honda says, is designed to help the brand serve younger buyers and those with a lower budget and lighter demands. Acura, Honda’s luxury arm, plans to adopt the same practice, though it hasn’t yet revealed a date for the change.

Because not all certified pre-owned options are the same, we’ve compared the many options for you.
