Just a day after first revealing the 2024 GMC Hummer SUV, General Motors has offered up more details on the electric off-roader. They include the stunning revelation that the first edition of the SUV is sold out two years before the first models reach dealerships.
Other details include new features that will make the Hummer SUV an off-road monster. It will have some of the best geometry we’ve seen for rock crawling. It boasts an approach angle of 49.6 degrees, a departure angle of 49 degrees, and a breakover angle of 34.4 degrees. Ground clearance is electronically variable to a maximum of 16 inches. The Hummer SUV can ford water 32 inches deep.
With the removable sky panels and the low acoustic signature of an electric vehicle, GMC says Hummer owners will be able to experience open-top off-road driving in near silence.
An available UltraVision Package includes 17 cameras, several of which show views beneath the vehicle to help with tricky navigation. Speaking of navigation, the redesigned myGMC app includes trail routes. The vehicle can also act as a generator, producing up to 3 kW of power.
Unique Interior
GMC says the interior was designed to offer “a multisensory, immersive experience that puts drivers in the middle of every moment.” It includes a My Mode system that lets drivers create pre-set modes for steering, suspension, sound, climate, and suspension.
The power rear gate, GMC says “opens like a vault — even wider than the vehicle itself. The extra width allows for an unimpeded 48-inch opening designed to make loading gear and supplies easier.” It opens to reveal a rear load floor that features a topographic map of the moon’s Sea of Tranquility.
The lunar theme carries through to the special launch edition. Known as Edition 1, it retails for $110,595. These models will come in an exclusive “Moonshot Green Matte” color, with a “Lunar Shadow interior theme.”
Edition 1 has sold out, the company says. But, we would note, won’t reach the first buyer for at least two years. So there is plenty of time to increase the available supply.
