Resized, Restyled, Reinvigorated
All-new last year, the GMC Acadia 3-row SUV is 700 pounds lighter, slightly smaller and more efficient than the previous generation, with an upscale, sophisticated design. While the Acadia had been known as a close relative to the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave, the Acadia’s brand-new platform is now more like that of the Cadillac XT5. As a crossover, its role is to meld the size and usefulness of an SUV with the usability and comfort of a car, and it succeeds.
Driving It
Smaller, lighter and more maneuverable, the Acadia has a new attitude on the road. During our time with it we remarked, "GMC’s 2018 Acadia SUV may not be the largest midsize-crossover SUV on the market, but its trim proportions and lighter weight make it one of the segment’s more enjoyable SUVs to drive. A small turning radius allows better maneuverability in tight parking lots, while the Acadia’s rigid platform and Cadillac CT6-derived suspension give the Acadia a leg up over the Honda Pilot and Nissan Pathfinder." All Terrain
The Denali remains the top-of-the-line luxury model for the Acadia, but for those who want a little more off-road capability, there’s the All Terrain trim level. The V6-powered All Terrain uses a different all-wheel-drive system than the rest of the Acadia lineup, offering the most traction on all surfaces, plus improved capability when climbing hills.
