Ford Tells Some Bronco Buyers Their Vehicles are Indefinitely Delayed

.2021 Ford Bronco 4D First Edition

“The reason this email is down to the wire is because we’ve been doing everything we possibly can to avoid the need to send it.” That’s not a line you hope to hear. But it’s a part of a note some 2021 Ford Bronco buyers woke up to late last week.

The Bronco has many people excited, but the excitement isn’t getting it here any faster. After repeated delays related to the optional hardtop roof, Ford has notified some buyers that their SUVs are delayed indefinitely.

Ford Will Email at Each Step of the Process

The company promises to email buyers as soon as their individual vehicle is scheduled for production. It will also let them know as soon as it has been built, and the moment it leaves the factory for delivery. But it admits, “we unfortunately can’t provide you with a definitive delivery window.”

As compensation, Ford will enroll each buyer whose Bronco has been held up into its Bronco Off-Roadeo driving experience.

Three Roof Options, One Late

The Bronco is available with three roof options, but Ford has faced repeated delays over the painted modular hardtop. The company initially cited COVID-19-related production problems at the roof’s supplier. It hasn’t given a reason for this latest delay.

In March, Ford offered hardtop buyers the chance to change their order to a soft-top or a Carbonized Grey molded-in-color removable hardtop with a free sound-deadening roof liner.
