Ford has recalled 6,819 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks from model year 2026 because their right rear axle shafts can fracture.
The company tells federal safety officials that some axle shafts were not properly heat-treated during production, leaving the metal more brittle than required. A fractured axle shaft can immobilize a vehicle and leave it moveable while in Park mode.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem, which was discovered during internal testing.
Dealers will replace the shaft to fix the problem.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
