Ford recalled 405 Ranger pickups from model year 2025 because their passenger-side airbags may not deploy properly in an accident.
The airbag deploys through a slit in the underside of the dashboard. The company tells federal safety officials that a laser that cuts the slit may have failed. That can leave the airbag inflating behind the dashboard rather than through it.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem. The supplier that builds the part discovered the defect when inspecting its own equipment, but not before it had shipped some parts to the factory.
Dealers will replace the defective panel to fix the problem.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
