The Ford Bronco’s 60th birthday kicks off in a week. Ford introduced the model on Aug. 11, 1966.
The company claims to have been the first to use the name “sport utility vehicle,” created to describe the rugged, squared-off off-roader (though we’d argue there have been SUVs since Chevrolet first put a wagon body on a truck frame for the 1935 Suburban).
To celebrate, Ford will offer a special 60th anniversary package calling back to some details from that original bucking horse.
Mandatory Cryptid
- Ford will only offer the package on Sasquatch models
The 60th anniversary special is an appearance package with no functional upgrades. But you have to buy a very functional Bronco to get it. Ford will sell it only for Sasquatch models.
A Bronco equipped with the Sasquatch Package has a high-clearance suspension, a more advanced 4-wheel-drive (4WD) setup, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and other gear to help it get further into the sticks.
The company hasn’t revealed pricing for the 60th anniversary special. But the least-expensive Sasquatch version of the 2025 Bronco sets you back over $56,000, so we’d guess this is at least a $60,000 purchase.
Classic ‘60s-Style Red Accents
- The package combines Wimbledon White with Vermillion red accents
It comes in Wimbledon White or Vermillion Red with a white roof. Like that 1960s original, it gets a grille with the B-R-O-N-C-O logo spelled out in red. Red center caps stamped with 1966 — the model year of that first Bronco — accent unique 17-inch alloy wheels. A stripe low on the doors — white on a red SUV and red on a white one – notes the 60th anniversary in a tasteful way.
They sit above full-length running boards.
Inside, the seats get 60th anniversary logos embossed on Alpine-and-ebony leather. That same sharp red appears on grab handles and a 60th anniversary plaque on the center console, setting it apart from other Bronco models.
Ford has done a nice job bringing ‘60s design cues to the modern Bronco for this one. It’s a project of the Ford Custom Garage, the team behind other tasteful Bronco upgrades like the Coastal package.
Ford will begin accepting orders in October.
