Ford, Lincoln Recall SUVs Over Airbag Risk

Ford and its Lincoln luxury division have recalled 171 SUVs. The vehicles’ passenger airbags can inflate with too much force.

The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a supplier built certain airbag inflators incorrectly. These devices can cause an airbag to inflate with more force than it’s designed to handle. This defect increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Dealers will correct the problem by replacing the passenger airbag unit. By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
