Lexus wants car shoppers to be green with envy, based on a limited-edition run of the 2027 Lexus IS compact sedan. A new Special Appearance Package limited to 350 units in North America will be covered in an exclusive green metallic paint called Envious, Lexus announced Monday.
Rumors of the death of the Lexus IS have been greatly exaggerated. Speculation was rampant after the 2025 Ultimate Edition, which usually signals a farewell. Instead, Lexus cut the turbocharged 4-cylinder and V8 engine options from the list.
The IS 350 made a surprise return for 2026, powered exclusively by a 311-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and with updates to its technology and aesthetics. It carries over for 2027 with two trim levels, F Sport Design and F Sport with an adaptive variable suspension. It can be had in rear-wheel drive (RWD) with an 8-speed automatic or all-wheel drive (AWD) with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The 2027 IS Special Appearance Package builds off the F Sport and promises better handling dynamics in addition to its sharp Envious coat. It includes the Handling Package and its adaptive suspension with a limited-slip rear differential on RWD variants only.
Lexus adds 19-inch black BBS alloy wheels for a sinister green-on-black color contrast. Inside, the synthetic leather seats have green stitching. This limited-edition IS pulls from the top shelf of Lexus features with a moonroof, Technology Package with Traffic Jam Assist, power rear sunshade, a surround-view camera system, and a Mark Levinson sound system.
Limited to 350 units, the IS Special Appearance Package will arrive later this year and top the as-yet-unspecified price range for the IS. The 2026 Lexus IS cost $46,795 for the base F Sport Design and $49,245 for the F Sport. Expect this edition to top $50,000.
The compact luxury sedan segment continues to shrink, yet offers a compelling if not sporty entrance point to most luxury brands. Lexus IS rivals include the Acura Integra, Audi A3 and A5, the Mercedes-Benz CLA, and the BMW 3 Series.
