Big and Cozy for the Whole Family — and All-New for 2018
The all-new Chevrolet Traverse improves on what already made this eight-passenger SUV a popular family choice. The comfortable, spacious vehicle with a roomy interior and generous cargo area is now lighter, more powerful and more fuel efficient, with thoughtful family-friendly touches throughout. In addition, the completely redesigned Traverse receives a bevy of new available convenience, tech and safety features. It’s for these reasons and more that the new Traverse is one of KBB’s 12 Best Family Cars of 2018.
Driving It
“The suspension is equally adept at quelling bumps big and small, all while keeping the Traverse from leaning too far in corners. The sharp steering puts its electrical assist on the rack instead of the steering column, resulting in better feel, and the brakes not only provide sure stops but feel good doing it.” Find out more in our 2018 Chevrolet Traverse full review.
Family Matters
There is a clever storage area behind the infotainment screen that you can lock with a PIN, and a huge hidden compartment under the floor in the cargo area. The newest version of the Smart Slide second-row seat makes it easy to get into the third row, and can still tip and slide forward even with a forward-facing child seat installed. An available rear-view mirror uses a camera on the rear of the Traverse to display an unobstructed view of what’s behind the vehicle. And Teen Driver is a standard feature that lets parents monitor a teenager’s driving habits, even offering an “in-vehicle report card.”

Owners’ Words
pg0929 owns a 2018 Traverse, and has this to say about the Chevy: “It even has a six-inch-deep storage tray under the floor. The second-row sunroof, 20-inch wheels and 8.5-inch touchscreen are great features. The auto-shutoff takes getting used to, but responds quickly as soon as you let off the brake.” Read more Chevrolet Traverse consumer reviews.
More Midsize Crossovers
As one of the larger crossovers out there, the Traverse manages to cover the needs and abilities of several different segments at once. It’s big and safe like a full-size SUV, it’s smooth and easy to drive like a big sedan and it offers enough gadgetry and bling to give an air of luxury. That said, there are alternatives aplenty.
