Cadillac is recalling 29,347 Optiq SUVs due to a potential issue with their front power windows. According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “When the express-up feature on the front power windows is activated using the key fob, the windows may fail to stop and reverse automatically if they encounter an object during the final 13 mm of upward travel.”
The filing also says that General Motors’ supplier set the upper travel range of the anti-pinch protection too far below the upper header.
This issue affects Cadillac Optiq SUVs from the 2025-2027 model years. GM is not aware of any complaints relating to this issue.
Cadillac will fix the problem by updating the software. Owners of models capable of receiving over-the-air (OTA) software updates can accept these changes remotely. You can also bring your vehicle into a dealer to have the update performed. As with all recall repairs, the fix is free.
Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone. To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your VIN, license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
