BMW Leaks New M Cars Itself

BMW’s famed M performance division has a pair of new cars on the way, but you’re not supposed to know that.

BMWBlog and several other media outlets reported that the M2 xDrive and M350 were recently listed on the BMW website. The problem? These cars aren’t due to be released for months. The good news is that this gives eagle-eyed enthusiasts a look at what to expect.

M2 xDrive

The M2 is the high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series subcompact coupe, and xDrive is the brand’s name for all-wheel drive. It was rumored that an M2 xDrive would be available in 2027, but now it seems like a sure thing. Exact details about this car aren’t known, but a look at the M3 and M4 xDrive could reveal some clues. If they’re similar, the M2 xDrive would have a system that swaps between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The BMW M5 first used such a system for the 2018 model year, and the M3 followed with a similar system in 2022.

M350 xDrive

This would be the new generation of the 3 Series based on the “Neue Klasse.” While specs for this car are also not known at the moment, the name hints that it’s moving up from the current M340.

The new car names have already been removed from BMW’s website, so for now, these tidbits will have to tide us over until BMW releases more information.
