Adding a healthy measure of cosmetic and functional charm to its heavy-duty full-size pickup, the 2013 Ford F-Series Super Duty Platinum Series is set to arrive in dealers later this year. Successfully introduced on the standard F-Series line in 2009, Ford sees this as a logical way to boost appeal of these higher-capacity haulers, whether they’re used for work or personal transportation. Available on F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty crew cab models fitted with either Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel engine or the 6.2-liter gasoline, the 2013 Ford F-Series Super Duty Platinum Series takes up where the Lariat and King Ranch Super Duty variants leave off.
Beyond a lavish load of brightwork trim bits, the key exterior changes to the 2013 Super Duty Platinum Series are its unique grille treatment, monochromatic bumper and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. Inside, premium leather, wood and wood appliqués richen the look whlle standards like 10-way power front captain’s chairs, a navigation system, power-telescoping mirrors, power-adjustable pedals, a rear-view camera and a remote start system enhances the on-board experience.
Crowning the feature mix in the new 2013 Super Duty Platinum Series is another first — the latest version of SYNC with MyFord touch. In addition to an 8.0-inch high-resolution color touchscreen display and dramatically expanded voice control capability, this fully integrated infotainment portal can be ordered with a unique truck-oriented interface that includes special tactile buttons and large rotating knobs to make it easier for driver’s wearing work gloves to access the climate controls and audio presets on the center stack.
"The F-Series Super Duty Platinum is the latest expression of Built Ford Tough truck luxury," said Brian Rathsburg, F-Series Super Duty Marketing manager. "It has a distinct appearance and a long list of features to deliver a superior experience. Along with that, it has all of the capability F-Series trucks are famous for." Pricing for the 2013 Ford F-Series Super Duty Platinum Series will be announced closer to its on-sale date.
