All-New Nissan Kicks Starts Under $24,000

The 2025 Nissan Kicks seen from a front quarter angle

Americans have few options for inexpensive cars these days, but Nissan is doing something about it. The company dramatically redesigned the Nissan Kicks subcompact SUV for 2025 but kept it one of the few new cars priced under $25,000.

The 2025 Kicks will start at $23,220, including the mandatory $1,390 delivery fee, when it goes on sale later this summer. Prices stay under $30,000 for even the top-of-the-line Kicks trim.

The Kicks’ entry price goes up by less than $500 for 2025 despite a complete redesign, making it a much more attractive vehicle. From the outside, it’s handsome, particularly with a contrast-color roof. An upright grille borrows from the boxy look popular in SUVs this year, but a curved greenhouse pushes back against it to keep it from looking like an also-ran.

The interior of the 2025 Nissan Kicks

Inside, it gets a pair of screens mounted together like many pricier cars. Best of all, Nissan will finally bring its beloved “Zero Gravity” seats to one of its least-expensive models with the 2025 Kicks.

Under the hood sits a 141-horsepower 4-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission – nothing Earth-shaking but plenty of power for a subcompact car. For the first time, the Kicks is available with all-wheel drive (AWD) – one of the least-expensive cars in America available with AWD grip.

A Return of Affordable Options?

In recent years, automakers have focused mostly on wealthier buyers. They’ve added vehicles priced over $60,000 and cut many priced under $25,000 from their lineups. The problem grew so acute that, earlier this year, dealers began pushing back, asking the companies to design more cars available at lower prices.

Nissan has lost some sales ground in recent years but may be leaning into the affordable car market to catch up. Now that Mitsubishi has canceled its Mirage subcompact car, Nissan builds the only car in America available for under $20,000, the Versa.

The Kicks and the compact Sentra give it two more options under the $25,000 line.
