Jeep‘s first “trail-rated” fully electric SUV is now on sale. The 2026 Recon is technically Jeep’s second electric vehicle (EV) after the Wagoneer S, but it’s the first one engineered for off-road adventure.
Two electric motors deliver a combined 670 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque — enough for a zero-to-60 time of just 3.6 seconds. Off-road specs include a 33.8-degree angle of approach, a 33.1-degree departure angle, and a 23.3-degree breakover angle. Jeep promises a range of “up to” 240 miles.
Just one trim, called Moab, will be available at launch, and it has a range of 222 miles. It features 33-inch tires and over nine inches of ground clearance. Jeep hasn’t announced the names of other trims, but says they’ll come later.
Modes for Rock, Sand, and More
Every trim level will get Auto, Snow, Sport, and Sand drive modes. Moab editions add a Rock mode. It includes a hill hold feature that allows the driver’s foot to move from the brake to the accelerator pedal without the vehicle moving. Jeep’s Selec-Speed Control system works like off-road cruise control, maintaining a set speed so the driver can focus on steering challenging inclines and declines.
Heritage Inspired, Future Focused
The Recon’s exterior design pays homage to Jeep’s DNA while adding bold, futuristic details. Expansive glass maximizes visibility. The doors on the Recon are removable. The Moab trim features glossy black fascias, wheel flares, Jeep badging with topographical etching, and an anti-glare hood graphic.
Rugged Utility, Refined Innovation
Inside the cabin of the Recon, you’ll find trail-inspired materials, customizable storage, and plenty of tech. Passengers get a grab handle to get in and hold on, while an accessory rail on top of the instrument panel can be used to mount a camera or navigation device. A dual-tiered center console offers copious storage for gear and a cord pass-through for keeping devices plugged in. Elastic straps on the doors are removable for flexible organization. The cargo area measures 65.9 cubic feet with the second row folded — slightly less than you get in a 4-door Wrangler. The frunk (front trunk) also offers three cubic feet of storage, enough for a carry-on bag.
A new interior color scheme called Joshua Tree pays tribute to the beauty of nature by blending earthy tones and recycled materials. Capri, a faux-leather synthetic material, trims the surface of the seats, instrument panel, console, and doors. Gray Metallic trim and a finish Jeep calls Quicksand make the interior look refined, while durable all-weather mats add a rugged counter-balance.
The Alpine audio system’s speakers are located beneath the seats instead of the doors, so that audio is uninterrupted even when the doors are removed.
A More Immersive Drive
A 12.3-inch drive cluster includes customizable menu options. A 14.5-inch horizontal touchscreen is the largest offered in a Jeep vehicle. Physical knobs for volume and tuning deliver a tactile experience.
Uconnect 5 is Jeep’s most advanced infotainment system to date. Drivers can stay in control regardless of terrain with large, dynamic displays and digital buttons sized for ease of use.
Alexa functionality, an updated Jeep mobile app, and Dynamic Range Mapping powered by TomTom ensure drivers stay connected. Range mapping can help plan long trips, indicating where and when to charge.
Pricing for the 2026 Jeep Recon starts at $68,990, including the $1,995 destination charge. The Moab trim is available now.
