- The popular Subaru Outback gets cheaper for model year 2027 thanks to a new base trim level.
- Starting price is $2,000 less than 2026 model.
The popular Subaru Outback midsize SUV will get less expensive for the 2027 model year.
A new base trim starts $2,000 below the 2026 model’s starting price, though the destination fee increases slightly. But the introduction of the new lower trim isn’t the only reason for the price cut. Every other trim level also sees a price reduction, ranging from $95 to $1,900.
The Outback saw a radical redesign for 2026, going from its wagon roots to a more traditional boxy SUV shape. Our editors praise its comfort, off-road chops, and much-improved infotainment, but find its base engine a little underpowered. An available turbocharged version fixes that problem.
All that remains for 2027.
What changes? The new base model appears, and is not as stripped-down as the term “base model” might make you think. It gets heated front seats and a full 12.1-inch multimedia screen. Savings come from Tricot cloth upholstery and a manually adjustable driver’s seat.
Other changes for the new model year include Subaru’s Highway Hands-Free Driving Assist as standard equipment on the Limited XT trim. It’s now optional on the Wilderness trim.
Subaru says the new Outback will arrive at dealerships “later this year.”
