The Toyota Sequoia arrives for the 2027 model year with updates that include a new Trailhunter package for the SR5 trim, revised exterior styling, and new towing tech. That’s the good news. The not-so-happy update came to the SUV’s price, which starts a few thousand dollars higher than the year before.
Headlining what’s new for 2027 is the Trailhunter package, a $3,500 option for the base SR5 trim. It brings Old Man Emu suspension, Michelin LTX Trail tires, recovery hooks, and an underbody skid plate. It also gets Crawl Control, which works as a low-speed off-road cruise control system, a locking rear differential, and multiple terrain-specific driving modes.

The TRD Pro trim gains Fox QS3 adjustable shocks, which Toyota says will help at higher speeds on rough terrain. The off-road trim also has a new exclusive Honeycomb color and standard red tow hooks.
Exterior updates include a new front-end design with a sharper look, and the new lower front bumper integrates revised rectangular fog lights. Each trim gets a unique grille design, which Toyota said will ensure the Sequoia “turns heads whether parked at a luxury resort or a dusty trailhead.”
The Sequoia’s powertrain carries over for 2027. Every trim comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 and an electric motor, making a combined 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers up to 9,520 pounds of towing capacity. The SUV also added new trailering features to the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 system, including automated trailer detection, trailer blind-spot monitoring, trailer lane trace assist, and a trailer backup guide.
Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warnings, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alerts, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition, and more.
