The 2027 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) returns with the same efficiency we’ve come to expect from this hallmark hybrid model, plus a new feature front passengers will surely appreciate. The SE, XSE, Nightshade, and XSE Premium trims remain for the new model year, as does the EPA-estimated 51 MPG fuel economy on the SE grade and the ability to drive up to 44 miles on battery power alone.
Updates for 2027
For 2027, dual-zone climate control becomes standard in the Prius Plug-in. This means both the driver and front passenger can select and set their own cabin temperatures for more comfort.
There’s also a new exterior color option for 2027. Inked is a black shade that’s a new choice in the color lineup, which also offers Cutting Edge, Guardian Gray, Reservoir Blue, Nightshade-exclusive Karashi, and premium paint colors Supersonic Red and Wind Chill Pearl.
Interior Highlights

Inside, an 8-inch multimedia screen remains standard on the SE, XSE, and Nightshade trims, while a 12.3-inch screen is standard on the XSE Premium trim. The larger screen is optional for the XSE and Nightshade trims.
Also standard on the SE, XSE, and Nightshade trims is a 6-speaker audio system. The XSE Premium Grade includes an 8-speaker JBL premium audio system.
Standard features across all grades include Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
Plugging In

As for the plugging in of this Prius model, it can recharge its battery via a standard household outlet with the supplied cable. It should take 11 hours to recharge the battery, or about four hours when plugged into a Level 2 charger. The beauty of the Prius PHEV is that if you can’t plug in or when the battery is depleted, the car will still run as an efficient and reliable hybrid.
The 2027 Toyota Prius Plug-in starts at $35,275 (including destination fee), an increase of just $205 from last year. It, along with the standard Prius, are on sale now.
