2027 Ford Bronco Filson is the Fanciest Bronco Yet

2027 Ford Bronco Filson.

• The Bronco Filson moves the rugged off-roader upmarket.
• It comes standard with a Raptor-derived turbo V6 and the Sasquatch Package.
• New-to-Bronco premium features include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and power running boards.

Since the Ford Bronco made its big comeback in 2021, its most obvious rival has always been the Jeep Wrangler. However, with the introduction of the 2027 Ford Bronco Filson, it moves upmarket to compete with more luxurious off-roaders in the vein of the Land Rover Defender 110 and the Lexus GX.

What is Filson?

Filson is a Seattle-based outdoor lifestyle brand that’s been around for over a century. It has a reputation as a premium brand that makes gear that lasts a lifetime. Its outdoorsy, American identity makes Filson a good fit for a luxurious Ford Bronco.

The Bronco Filson has a unique appearance package with plenty of Filson branding inside and out. The exterior offers a few paint options exclusive to the Filson. Painted fender flares surrounding Filson-exclusive wheels add a touch of class to the Sasquatch Package, striking the right balance of premium and rugged. Around back, there’s a hard spare tire cover embelished with Filson branding.

Rugged Luxury

Step inside and enjoy the nicest interior that Ford has ever put in a Bronco. The leather seats feature a unique quilting pattern and accents specific to the Filson trim. Filson is famous for its bags for hunting and fishing gear, so there are “Filson-inspired” storage bags in the door panels, behind the front seats, and mounted to the frame in the cargo area. Although these are convincing impressions of genuine Filson bags, they aren’t actually manufactured by Filson.

Premium features in the Filson trim that are never before seen in a Ford Bronco include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and power-deployable running boards. Some small improvements were made to seals and aerodynamics for a quieter cabin; Ford claims there’s a 20% reduction in perceived wind noise. Ford wouldn’t tell us whether these new luxury features would be exclusive to the Filson, so it’s possible some of them will be optional on lower Bronco trims.

Fil-ociraptor

The sole powertrain option in the Ford Bronco Filson is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, which is shared with the Bronco Raptor. While the Raptor has a laser focus on going fast off-road, the Filson uses a different tuning geared more toward refinement (and, hopefully, efficiency). Performance specs are forthcoming for the Bronco Filson, but the Raptor version of this engine is rated at 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. We don’t expect the Filson to have the same desert-racing abilities as the Raptor, but rather generous power delivered in a way befitting a premium off-road SUV.

Naturally, 4-wheel drive (4WD) comes standard in the Filson, as it does in every Bronco. The standard Sasquatch Package brings a HOSS 3.0 suspension system with Fox shocks, locking front and rear differentials, and 35-inch tires. In the premium off-road space occupied by brands like Land Rover and Lexus, these are unusually huge tires.

How do I get one?

Ford is opening orders for the Bronco Filson this Fall, with the first units arriving in dealerships in early 2027. Pricing is forthcoming, but given its position at the upper crust of the Bronco model range and its ambitions to compete with off-road SUVs from luxury brands, Ford says the Bronco Filson will start in the mid-$70,000 range.
