The company announced today that the 2025 Volvo EX30 will start at just under $35,000, with prices staying under the $50,000 line.
The EX30 is the point of entry to Volvo’s planned all-electric lineup. A subcompact SUV designed to look like the baby of the brand’s new EX90 flagship, it could introduce new buyers to the Volvo brand thanks to a starting price lower than that of many EVs from non-luxury automakers.

Mainstream automakers have tended to introduce larger, more expensive EVs first. Ford, with its Mustang Mach-E, and Honda, with its Prologue, for instance, start over the $40,000 line. That gives some buyers the intriguing choice of stepping down to a smaller EV and getting a luxury car with the EX30.
Its entry-level trim, called Core, will include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google built-in, and safety tech like Volvo’s Driver Alert System, which tracks the driver’s eye movements to warn when you’re getting drowsy.
The Core will be offered with a single-motor extended-range powertrain good for up to 275 miles between charges. The EPA has not yet verified that claim.
Buyers of other trim levels will get the choice of a twin-motor version. Volvo calls it “the fastest accelerating Volvo car, ever.” The company hasn’t specified its range.
Stepping up to the Plus equipment level brings a contrast-color black roof, larger wheels, and “an immersive sound experience by Harman Kardon Premium Sound.”
The top-of-the-line Ultra trim will include “highlights like the next generation of Pilot Assist with Lane Change Assistance, 360 Camera with 3D View, and Park Pilot Assist.”
2025 Volvo EX30 Pricing
Volvo will charge a mandatory processing and handling fee of $1,295 on the EX30, with deliveries to begin in the first half of 2024.
Volvo will build the EX30 in China, so it won’t be eligible for federal EV tax credits.
