2023 Kia Telluride Gets Two New Trims, Price Boost

For the 2023 model year, the wildly popular Kia Telluride will get a pair of mild off-roader packages and a price increase for the rest of its lineup. The base price now begins at $35,690, vs. $33,390 for the 2022 model year.

The Telluride has been an unqualified smash since its introduction for the 2020 model year. It has existed for three years and won our Best Buy Award in the 3-row SUV class three years in a row. Kia dealers have trouble keeping them in stock. In an industry where automakers routinely keep a month’s supply of vehicles, we’ve seen Kia dealers fall to less than a week’s supply of Tellurides several times this year.

So, the Korean automaker knows it doesn’t need to do much to keep the Telluride on top.

Changes for 2023 include a pair of new rugged trail packages, the X-Line and X-Pro, available on higher trim levels.

The X-Line models sit 0.4 inches higher than the standard Telluride and get reworked traction control for better off-road performance, 20-inch wheels, and a towing mode with trailer sway control. X-Pro models go further, adding all-terrain tires and an extra 500 pounds of towing capacity, for a max of 5,500 pounds. They ride on smaller 18-inch wheels, which can boost off-road capability by allowing a more flexible tire sidewall.

The 2023 Telluride gets a few nips and tucks inside and out. New headlights replace the yellow square running lights that have been a Telluride signature with a pair of vertical slashes instead. Inside, a curved housing now holds the central touchscreen and driver’s instrument panel, so they look like one wide unit.

A Wi-Fi hotspot is now standard, though it requires a monthly subscription to the Kia Connect service.
