2022 Subaru Ascent Prices Hold the Line; Onyx Edition Added

The Subaru Ascent is one of the tempting choices among a fresh group of family SUVs. Since its introduction in the 2019 model year, it’s been one of the most spacious midsize, 3-row SUVs available in the U.S. Lively road manners, standard all-wheel-drive, and excellent crash test scores make it an attractive alternative to the class stalwart Toyota Highlander and highly lauded newcomers like the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride.

The 2022 Ascent matches the 2021 Ascent almost exactly. Even the price is unchanged – starting at $32,295, plus a $1,125 destination fee. The 2022 Subaru Ascent reaches dealerships at the end of the month.

There is, however, a new entrant to the Ascent lineup. The new Onyx package slots into the center of the price range. It rides on 20-inch gloss-black Y-spoke wheels and wears gloss black in place of chrome on its grille and air vents.

Inside, the Onyx edition carries water-resistant StarTex upholstery. Other features include a power liftgate, automatic reverse braking, and a heated steering wheel.
