UPDATE: You can now read our full review of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse with official prices, specs and more.

Still lurking in the shadows for another few weeks, the next-generation 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is set for a full reveal at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The all-new version of its midsize crossover SUV is expected to continue to offer seating for up to eight and with “the segment’s best third-row legroom and maximum cargo space,” according to Chevrolet.

Chevy also promises the 2018 Traverse will embody a bold new design with “premium” interior and exterior cues and advanced technology that will include what it calls D-Optic headlamps as an option that provide a natural daylight effect. If they function as promised, the lights should help the Traverse in its efforts to earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which just stiffened its test criteria to mandate minimum benchmark requirements for front lighting on vehicles.

The new Traverse will join the redesigned 2018 Chevrolet Equinox and new 2017 Bolt EV as well as the full-size Tahoe and Suburban in what Alan Batey, GM North America and brand chief of Global Chevrolet calls the industry’s broadest and freshest lineup of crossovers and SUVs. We’ll have full details as they become available.
