Broadening its new line of full-size pickups, Nissan has taken the wraps off of Single Cab versions of its Titan pickup. Slated to arrive at dealers in late fall, the 2017 Nissan Titan half-ton and its brawnier Titan XD sibling share much of the same design and technology found in their existing Crew Cab counterparts but are being geared more toward commercial work/fleet applications. Offered in S and SV trim grades with several option packages, these new Single Cab models will come with an 8-foot bed and be available in rear-drive and 4-wheel-drive configurations to compete with the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram pickups.

Nissan’s new 2-door pickups offer the same powertrain elements as the Titan/Titan XD Crew Cab models. Both feature a standard gasoline-burning 5.6-liter Endurance V8 that makes 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque backed by a 7-speed automatic transmission. The XD version also offers a Cummins 5.0-liter V8 Turbo Diesel upgrade that make 310 horses and 555 lb-ft of torque teamed with a 6-speed automatic. A 3.0-liter gas V6 also destined for the Titan Crew Cab “at a later date” is coming for the new Titan Single Cab, as well, but Nissan has not yet released specs.

No word yet on pricing for any of these new Titan Single Cab models either. However, Nissan has confirmed it ultimately will round out the Titan program with a King Cab variant. When that happens, Rich Miller, Nissan’s Director of Product Planning for Trucks, SUVs and Commercial Vehicles, says its comprehensive product mix will cover roughly 85 percent of the total light-pickup market.
