Bowing at the New York Auto Show, the 2017 Nissan GT-R Track Edition bridges the gap between the GT-R Premium model on which its based and the flagship GT-R Nismo-spec variant, both of which were redesigned for 2017. Although this limited-run coupe retains the base 3.8-liter/565-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine, programmable 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and Attessa E-TS all-wheel drive system, the Track Edition benefits from Nismo components and tech enhancements as well as some unique elements of its own.
“The new GT-R Track Edition gives buyers a specialized model, one true to GT-R heritage and available only by special order,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “Building on the major upgrade to every GT-R for 2017, the Track Edition is an amazing package inside, outside and under the skin.”

Employing the same supplemental adhesive bonding and spot welding as the GT-R Nismo that adds rigidity to its body shell, the new Track Edition also boasts a reinforced hood and a full Nismo suspension retune that trims weight and boosts roll stiffness compared to the Premium version. A set of 20-inch forged Nismo Rays alloy wheels wrapped in staggered-size Dunlop Sports Maxx GT600 high-performance run-flat tires round out the chassis remix.

Adding aggressive edge to the exterior of the GT-R Track Edition are more boldly rendered Nismo-spec front fenders complemented by a carbon-fiber rear spoiler. Inside, its performance-focused cabin is done up in red and black leather with carbon fiber accents. The cabin also features Recaro sport buckets, steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, simplified switchgear and an 8.0-inch capacitive touchscreen.

On the street side of the equation the Track Edition also features NissanConnect with Navigation, Mobil Apps and a Bose premium audio system with Active Noise Cancellation/Active Sound Enhancement circuitry.
