Mini announced a new special edition that pays homage to the iconic small car’s roots in the 2017 Mini Seven. Available in late summer, the Mini Seven will be offered as a package on Cooper and Cooper S versions of the 2- and 4-door Hardtop models boasting exclusive design features both inside and out.

The special edition commemorates the introduction of the Mini Seven and Morris Mini Minor in 1959, breakthrough small cars that featured transversely mounted engines driving the front wheels. Despite their small size, the duo offered good interior room in a tidy package that was fun to drive.

Special colors

The Mini Seven will be offered in a choice of four colors, Lapisluxury Blue, Pepper White, Midnight Black metallic and British Racing Green metallic. The roof and outside mirror caps are finished in silver as are the red-framed hood stripes. The exterior also features special Mini Seven badging, unique 17-inch two-color alloy wheels, chrome framed front air intakes and grille as well as a chrome framed rear lower fascia and chrome exhaust tips.

Inside, the cabin features specially matched trims including sport seats in a fabric and leather Diamond Malt Brown upholstery that features an oblique grey and black check pattern with an integrated Malt Brown pinstripe. Other options include leather options in Cross Punch Carbon Black, Lounge Satellite Gray and Mini Yours Lounge Carbon Black. In addition to more Mini Seven logos, the interior also features Piano Black high gloss trim and optional contrasting interior surfaces in Dark Cottonwood, Fiber Alloy and Off-White.

Two engine choices

To go along with the 2- and 4-door body styles in Cooper and Cooper S trim levels, Mini is offering two engines,  a 134-horsepoewr 1.5-liter 3-cylinder base engine for the Cooper or a 189-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in the Cooper S, with a choice of either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Steptronic automatic with each. All models come equipped with a 6.5-inch high-res center screen or an optional 8.8-inch display and a Harmon Kardon sound system.

Pricing for the 2017 Mini Seven will be released closer to the on sale date.
