2017 GMC Canyon Denali unveiled

Offering an early look at a range-topping model that won’t arrive in showrooms until the end of next year, GMC took the wraps off of the 2017 Canyon Denali at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Like its Denali-spec GMC marque mates, the new Canyon model boasts a bespoke chrome grille and unique wheels, in this case, 20-inch aluminum alloys that complement an bright-machine finish with painted accents. To be offered in six colors, other Denali-specific touches that differentiate GMC’s popular midsize pickup from its lesser siblings include chrome fog lamp bezels, rectangular chrome assist steps, a polished exhaust tip and a standard spray-in bed liner.

Available in rear-drive/4-wheel-drive crew cab models with the choice of six different exterior colors, the new Canyon Denali is equipped with a standard 305-horsepower/3.6-liter gasoline V6 or optional 181-horse/2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel V6 that nets an additional 100 lb-ft of torque. The diesel boosts the Canyon’s segment-leading towing/payload stats while delivering better fuel economy. The Jet Black-only Denali cabin motif is highlighted by heated/ventilated front buckets covered in perforated Mulan leather as well as unique instrument panel/console trim bits and Denali-logo doorsills and mats. Other luxury touches included GMC IntelliLink with Navigation, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity, remote starting and a heated steering wheel.
