Pricing for the all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider will start at $24,995 (plus $995 destination) for the base Classica 6-speed manual model, the Italian automaker announced. A 6-speed automatic is $1,350 more. Sharing the same platform as the Mazda MX-5 Miata and built by the Japanese automaker in Hiroshima, the Fiat 124 features a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine making 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The base 2016 MX-5 Miata is priced less at $24,915 plus $820 destination and has a 155 horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 148 lb-ft of torque.
Class of 2017: New Cars Ready to Roll
In the middle of the 124 range is the Lusso (for luxury) model which features heated leather seats and larger 17-inch wheels. It starts at $27,495 for the manual and $28,845 for the automatic plus $995 delivery. The mid-range Mazda Club is $28,600 plus delivery. The range-topping Abarth trim has 10 additional horsepower, a sport suspension, limited-slip differential, gun metal colored accents and 17-inch alloy wheels. Prices for the Abarth start at $28,195 for the manual, $29,545 for the automatic plus the $995 delivery. This top model is comparable to the MX-5 Miata Grand Touring that starts at $30,065.
A total of 124 first edition models, called the Prima Edizione Lusso, will also be offered for $35,000 plus $995 destination. The 2017 Fiat 124 Spider goes on sale this summer.
