According to the EPA, the 2017 Chevy Cruze Diesel Sedan has earned the highest estimated highway mileage rating of all non-hybrid/non-EV vehicles sold in the U.S., netting 52 mpg when fitted with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. Shift-for-yourself versions of the car also get 30 mpg city ratings and carry a 37 mpg combined mark as well as a 702-mile per-tank range estimate. Versions of the compact Cruze 4-door fitted with the new 9-speed Hydra-Matic automatic alternative are rated at 31 city/47 highway mpg while still earning a 37 mpg combined rating.

Now arriving in showrooms, the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Sedan is powered by a 1.6-liter/4-cylinder Ecotec turbodiesel that makes a modest 137 horses but a stout 240 lb-ft of torque. When paired with the 9-speed automatic, the engine also features fuel-saving start/stop technology. Like its conventionally powered siblings, the 2017 Cruze Diesel Sedan will offer OnStar with 4G LTE connectivity, built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and Chevrolet MyLink with support for Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Sedan starts at $24,670. Later this year, it will be joined by a Cruze Diesel Hatchback model that will arrive as a 2018 model.
