Ahead of its debut at the Dubai Motor Show in November, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 crossover SUV was revealed in pictures and private showing in New York. This replacement for the current SRX model, Cadillac‘s global best-selling model, will also be shown later that month at the Los Angeles Auto Show and hit showrooms next spring. The new XT5 will become "the cornerstone of a new series of Cadillac crossovers." As part of the automaker’s new naming regimen, all of these vehicles will carry an "XT" designation along with a number that signifies their relative size in the family lineup.

For the moment, Cadillac is offering no other details about the new XT5 which will be built in GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee, assembly plant. However, it’s likely to be underpinned by a new modular architecture related to GM’s E2XX global midsize platform introduced on the 2016 Chevy Malibu. Like Cadillac’s soon-to-launch CT6 Sedan, the new XT5 is expected to offer both turbocharged 4-cylinder and V6 engines.
