Offering a first look at what we’ll see in America next year, the fully redesigned Kia Sorento crossover SUV got its grand unveiling in Paris. As indicated in our earlier mini-reveal, the new Sorento is nearly 4.0 inches longer overall and has 3.2 inches of additional wheelbase compared to the current model. The Paris appearance confirmed that it’s also lower and slightly wider. More aggressively contoured bodywork set off by new "Wolf’s Eye" headlamps and slimmer-profile LED taillights complement further enhance its curb appeal.

Under that redrawn skin, this new midsize Kia SUV has a stiffer, stronger unit body structure which employs revamped suspension bits tuned to deliver sharper handling and responsiveness. Inside, the Sorento boasts a more sophisticated appearance, significantly more soft-touch surfaces and reduced noise levels in its larger and more people-oriented 5-/7-passenger cabin. The remake also bumps cargo space in Euro models by 17.5 percent with the rear seats folded.

The new Sorento will offer five different gasoline and turbodiesel engine options in various global markets. While Kia has not yet indicated which will be coming to America, it appears likely the current 191-horsepower 2.4-liter direct-injected 4-cylinder and the 290-horse/3.3-liter GDI V6 will continue to provide motivation. We anticipate more information on powertrains, packages and features for the U.S. 2016 Kia Sorento to be released next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
