Getting its grand unveiling in Los Angeles, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry features a "winter capability" theme — which seems a bit ironic as it’s spun from the desert-oriented Wrangler Sahara model. Offered in Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal and the Backcountry-exclusive Xtreme Purple, this new Wrangler trim features unique front/rear powder-coated off-road bumpers, 17-inch Rubicon wheels with a Mid-gloss Black finish and a black fuel filler door as well as a Backcountry decal on its front fender and rear quarter panel. The Backcountry exterior treatment also includes a black hardtop (a body-color alternative is available) and Wrangler Rubicon rock rails with Sahara-style side steps available at no extra charge.

Distinctive cabin enhancements on the Wrangler Backcountry include black McKinley leather seat bolsters with black sport mesh inserts, Piano Black vent rings/door handles/grab handles, a vinyl-wrapped console lid, door armrests with Diesel Gray accent stitching. Other features include and all-weather slush mats along with a 9-speaker premium Alpine sound system and the Bluetooth Hands-free Connectivity Group. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry goes on sale later this month but pricing has yet to be released.
