As the first convertible model to grace the division’s lineup in 25 years, the all-new 2016 Buick Cascada will open at $33,990 when it goes on sale early next year. Buick notes the car will have more power and more features but cost thousands less than its rival, the Audi A3 Cabriolet. Revealed at the Detroit Auto show in January, this sleek compact 2+2 droptop is related to its European cousin, the Opel Cascada, but sports a its own design cues highlighted by a unique grille treatment not shared with any other Buick.
Spun from GM’s global Delta platform, the front-drive Cascada will have a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine at launch. Developing 200 horsepower and 208 lb-ft of torque that can be upped to 221 lb-ft for short periods using an overboost function, it will be backed by a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Power soft top
In addition to an electro-hydraulic multilayer soft top that can be deployed in just 17 seconds and spring-loaded rollover bars behind the rear seats, the 2016 Cascada will come with a bounty of standard equipment. Key on that list are HID headlamps and LED running lights/taillamps, dual-zone climate control, heat-reflective leather upholstery, heated power front seats, a 7-speaker radio package, IntelliLink with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, navigation, Rear Park Assist, rear camera and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Sun chasers seeking even more can step up to the 2016 Buick Cascada Premium model. Opening at $36,990, it adds Forward Collision Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Front Park Assist, front/rear air deflectors, auto headlamp control, Rainsense wipers and unique 20-inch bi-color diamond-graphic alloys.
