Making its debut at the New York Auto Show, the 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan gets a mid-cycle refresh that brings a new sense of style and more standard and optional content. What remains constant is that Nissan‘s top-selling subcompact continues to be most affordable new car available in America.

Still offered in Versa S, S Plus, SV and SL trims, this front-drive 4-door gets a "Nissan family" nose job that brings it closer in visual character to its larger Sentra/Altima/Maxima siblings. An edgier fascia, new chrome-embellished grille and redrawn head and foglamps are keys to the Versa Sedan’s up-front makeover while the tail tweaks are highlighted by a dramatically contoured soft cap and new lower valance panel. Restyled side mirrors and a new 15-inch alloy wheel also figure into the SV and SL remix.

New interior

Inside, the spacious cabin gets a new and more substantial center stack similar to the one found in the Versa Note Wagon, new instrument graphics and a thicker-rimmed multifunction steering wheel with standard audio and Bluetooth Hands-free Phone controls. The S and S Plus also benefit from a number of other detail changes formerly part of the S Plus Convenience Package including upgraded upholstery fabrics and an enhanced audio system with a new AUX jack.

Moving upline, the Versa SV Sedan adds an outside temperature display, USB/iPod controls, an upgraded fabric headliner and a map light with key-linked illuminated entry while the SL model comes with Nissan Intelligent Key/Push Button Ignition plus an AM/FM/CD/USB-iPod audio system with a 5.0-inch display and NissanConnect with Mobile Apps. It also offers a revised Technology Package with a Navigation and Mobile Apps package that includes a 5.8-inch color touchscreen display, Nissan Voice Recognition for audio and navigation and SiriusXM Traffic/Travel Link (SiriusXM subscription required) while offering Bluetooth streaming audio and a RearView Monitor as standalone options.

Powertrains carry over

No changes have been made to the 2015 Versa Sedan’s powertrain packaging. All versions of the car are fitted with the same 1.6-liter/109-horse 4-cylinder engine that can be backed with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic in the Versa S. The rest of the models offer a CVT automatic that features D-mode step shifting, which earns 35 mpg/40 mpg city/highway EPA ratings.

The 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan arrives in dealers next week. Pricing for the S starts at $12,800 with the range-topping Versa SL opening at $17,700.
