While mum about any specific details, Lexus has released a preview image of its new NX Crossover model due for its global reveal later this month at Auto China 2014 in Beijing. The dramatically styled 5-passenger compact SUV appears to share a good deal of its basic exterior design with the Lexus LF-NX Concept originally presented in Frankfurt last fall. Set to slot below the current RX, the 2015 Lexus NX is aimed at the expanding premium compact crossover segment that includes vehicles like the Audi Q3, BMW X3/X4, Mercedes GLA-Class and Range Rover Evoque.

Fitted with a hybrid drive system that paired a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine with an electric motor in Frankfurt, the LF-NX Concept turned up two months later in Tokyo packing a conventional 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Although nothing has been confirmed, both seem likely to be offered on the production model, which is expected to go on sale here by the end of 2014.
