Underscoring the One Ford global approach to products, the Blue Oval introduced the 2015 Ford Focus ST at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom. This high performance version of Ford’s bread and butter compact hatchback will be sold in more than 40 countries worldwide.
Among the changes to the Focus ST are redesigned front and rear fascias with a sportier look, HID headlamps on ST2 and ST3 trim levels with Recaro seats, additional LED lighting on all models, 18-inch Rado Gray alloy wheels and a new exterior color, Magnetic Metallic, which replaces Ingot Silver. Inside, the cabin features a redesigned instrument panel center stack with upgraded climate controls, a larger center console with more storage space including a media bin with USB smart charging, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, new front door storage with cupholders and a rear-view camera standard. Options include 8-way power driver’s seat and a heated steering wheel.
Improved Dynamics
The 2015 Ford Focus ST also benefits from a retuned suspension that features all-new springs and stiffer shock absorbers as well as recalibrated electric power-assist steering that sharpens vehicle response. "The engineering enhancements to the suspension and steering deliver greater responsiveness, agility and precision, all of which will reward the performance enthusiast with an exhilarating driving experience," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president of global product development.

Power for the Focus ST comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine which delivers 252 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that sports a short-throw shifter and gearing that allows quick acceleration and comfortable cruising at highway speeds.
Purposeful looks
The exterior enhancements give the Focus ST a lower, wider stance, dynamically sculpted hood and slimmer headlamps offset by rectangular fog lamps. The car’s aero kit includes body-colored side skirts and rear diffuser elements flanking twin-hexagonal exhaust tips. The hatch is topped by a rear roof spoiler. Inside, the cabin has a driver-oriented layout with fewer buttons and an additional bank of three gauges centered atop the dash which displays turbo boost, oil temperature and oil pressure. Satin chrome door grab handles and aluminum scuff plates add a touch of elegance.
The new Focus ST will be available in ST1, ST2 and ST3 trim levels, starting with cloth seats in the lowest level, partial leather in the mid-level and full-leather in top trim. An on sale date and pricing have yet to be announced.
