2015 BMW X6 pricing to start at $60,550

While vehicles aren’t set to arrive in showrooms until sometime during the fourth quarter, pricing for the significantly updated 2015 BMW X6 lineup has now been released. For the first time, buyers will be able to get the automaker’s midsize 5-passenger Sport Activity Vehicle in a rear-wheel-drive configuration – the new 6-cylinder X6 sDrive35i – which will start at $60,550. The all-wheel drive 2015 X6 xDrive35i variant is set to open at $62,850 while the range-topping V8-powered BMW X6 xDrive50i begins at $73,850.

Beyond xLine and/or M Sport packages, the X6 options list also includes a wide range of functional and cosmetic enhancements from adaptive suspension, tech-rich Driver Assistance Packages and adaptive full-LED headlamps to a bi-color Interior Design Package, Bang & Olufsen premium sound system and trick rear-seat entertainment package.

Edgier look, enhanced appointments, greater efficiency 

As we previously reported, the 2015 BMW X6 displays more aggressive exterior styling that borrows cues from the X5 and now includes the automaker’s signature drag-diminishing Air Curtains and Air Breathers. The new-look passenger compartment also features an X5 influence, and boasts standard Nappa leather upholstery and wood or aluminum accent trim along with a programmable Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster, 10.2-inch center Control Display that works with a new iDrive controller and an even larger sunroof. Versatility gets a boost thanks to a new 40/20/40 split-folding rear bench that replaces the existing 60/40 unit along with a one-touch auto-takedown rear liftgate.

Both the new X6 sDrive35i and xDrive35i share BMW‘s well-proven 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-6 that makes 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. While the 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo twin-turbo V8 continues to motivate the 2015 BMW X6 xDrive50i, new Valvetronic variable valve timing raises pony count from 400 to 445 and bumps peak torque from 450 to 480 lb-ft. No final word yet on how that extra muscle will impact performance or fuel economy of the xDrive50i, but BMW anticipates good news on both fronts when final acceleration and EPA figures are released closer to its on-sale date.
