Want an Acura ILX Hybrid? Better grab one now while you still can. Although the 2015 Acura ILX 2.0-liter and ILX 2.4-liter have begun rolling into dealerships here in America, the most fuel-efficient member of the family won’t be joining them for the new season. In what it calls a "streamlining" process to "better align product with customer demand," Acura has eliminated the ILX Hybrid in the U.S. market after watching its sales for the first five months of 2014 slip to barely three percent of the total model mix – less than half of what they’d been in 2013.

The silver lining in this dark cloud is that Acura says there’s about a four-month supply of new 2014 ILX Hybrids still available. Given their status, one would suspect buyers could exert a fair bit of pricing leverage when making a deal on a well-appointed vehicle the EPA rates at 39 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. For some reason, Acura does plan to continue selling the ILX Hybrid a 2015 model north of the border in Canada.

As for the returning team members, save for replacing Polished Metal Metallic with Modern Steel Metallic as an exterior color, they carry over intact following a significant content enhancement for 2014. The base 2015 Acura ILX 2.0-liter with a 5-speed automatic transmission opens at $27,945, which is a modest $150 bump from the year before. A 2.0-liter with Premium Package that adds an upgraded 7-speaker/360-watt sound system, XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth Audio, Pandora interface, SMS text messaging, speed-sensitive volume control and USB/AUX connectivity starts at $30,245 while the ILX 2.0-liter with a Technology Package that steps things up one more notable notch with a primo ELS Surround audio system, Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition and AcuraLink Satellite Communication System with a host of real-time features commands $32,645. For those seeking a bit more sport, the 2015 Acura ILX 2.4-liter that’s only offered with a with a 6-speed manual and Premium Package, stickers at $30,245.
